DeLand One ("DeLand One," "we," "us," or "our") is a local information platform for DeLand, Florida, operated by Ember Development Studios, LLC. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
You can browse Today, Explore, News, and public detail pages without an account and without signing in. We do not require you to identify yourself to read local information.
1. Information we collect
You give us information directly when you create an account and use the app:
- Account and profile — email address, name, photo, your relationship to DeLand, and optional company, role, and interests.
- Your activity — the organizations and places you follow, events, places, and stories you save, your RSVPs and registrations, and your event check-ins.
- Location — requested only when you use a feature that needs it: distance-based discovery, recentering a map, or checking in at an event, where check-in confirms you are at the venue.
- Notifications — a device token if you enable push, plus your notification preferences.
- Submissions — requests to claim a business or organization profile, and reports of incorrect or inappropriate content.
We also record limited usage analytics — which screens and features are used — to improve the product. These carry a short-lived session identifier, and your account id only when you are signed in. They are restricted to a fixed set of non-sensitive properties, such as which filter was applied or a card’s position in a list. We do not put search text, email addresses, or phone numbers into analytics.
2. How we use your information
- Operate your account and keep you signed in.
- Show your plans, saves, follows, tickets, and check-ins.
- Personalize what surfaces on Today, Explore, and News.
- Send the notifications you have asked for.
- Review profile-claim requests and content reports.
- Understand how the app is used so we can improve it.
- Comply with legal obligations and protect residents and the public.
3. What we do not do
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data. We do not process payments and never collect card or bank details. We do not send SMS messages. We do not run advertising trackers.
Following an organization is not consent for that organization to contact you. Sharing your email or phone with an organization is a separate, explicit choice, and you can withdraw it at any time from your privacy settings.
4. What other people can see
Your email address and phone number are private by default. They appear publicly only if you deliberately add them to your networking card and make that card public. Whether your name appears in an event’s public attendee list is your choice and is off unless you turn it on. Your networking card can be active, paused, or private, and you select every field it shows.
5. Cookies
We use cookies that are necessary for the product to work: keeping you signed in, and a short-lived session identifier used to group analytics events. We do not use advertising cookies. You can clear or block cookies in your browser, but signed-in features will not work without the essential ones.
6. Data sharing and service providers
We share information only where necessary:
- Service providers — Supabase (database, authentication, file storage), Vercel (hosting), and Anthropic (the API behind in-app answers). They process data on our behalf.
- Other residents — only the fields you choose to make public on your networking card or attendee visibility.
- Organizations — only where you have given that specific organization consent to contact you.
- Legal compliance — when required by law, court order, or to protect rights and safety.
News, civic, weather, and public-notice content is retrieved from public and official sources. Those sources are credited on each item, and the original is always linked.
7. Data retention
We keep your account data while your account is open. Activity records such as saves, RSVPs, and check-ins are kept while they remain useful to you and are removed with your account. Analytics records are retained in a form that is not tied to your identity once your account is deleted.
8. Your rights
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct — most fields are editable directly from Your DeLand.
- Delete — request deletion of your account and associated data.
- Port — request your data in a portable, machine-readable format.
- Opt out — withdraw notification or organization-contact consent at any time.
You can exercise Access, Port, and Delete yourself, right now — no request needed. Account settings downloads everything we hold for your account as a JSON file. Delete: the same screen deletes your account after you re-enter your password. Deletion is immediate and permanent — we cannot undo it.
A few records outlive a deleted account with your name removed rather than being erased: event check-in counts stay so organizers keep an accurate headcount, content reports you filed stay so moderation decisions keep their record, and usage statistics stay only in aggregate. None of them remain linked to you.
If you can’t sign in, or you’d rather someone handled it for you, email support@emberdevstudios.com and we will respond within 30 days.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the rights above plus the right to restrict or object to processing. If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what we collect, to have it deleted, and to opt out of its sale — and as stated above, we do not sell personal data.
9. Children
DeLand One is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If we learn we have, we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to this policy
We update this policy when what we collect changes. Material changes will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date and surfaced in the app.
